Usage and quotas
Track consumption against your plan limits in Billing → Usage in the dashboard. Quotas reset on your billing cycle (monthly for paid plans; calendar month for Free).
What counts toward each quota
Section titled “What counts toward each quota”| Quota | Includes | Does not include |
|---|---|---|
| Messages | Widget replies, Direct API replies, dashboard test panel | Failed auth requests, static widget loads |
| Storage | Uploaded KB files in Backblaze B2 | Credential metadata (negligible) |
| Documents per KB | Each indexed file or crawled page | Archived assistant configs |
| Team seats | Active invited members (admin, editor, viewer) | Pending invites past expiry |
| Assistants | Active + archived assistants | Deleted assistants |
Monthly message usage
Section titled “Monthly message usage”Messages are the primary metered resource. Each assistant reply that runs the pipeline (retrieval, tools, synthesis) counts as one message.
| Plan | Included messages |
|---|---|
| Free | 100 |
| Starter | 1,200 |
| Standard | 10,000 |
| Pro | 40,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom |
Approaching the limit triggers in-dashboard warnings. Hard limits return errors to visitors — see Rate limit troubleshooting.
Storage and documents
Section titled “Storage and documents”Storage is shared across all knowledge bases in your organization. Document limits apply per knowledge base, not org-wide.
Example: Standard allows 3 KBs × 100 documents each, with 20 GB total storage.
Deleting a document frees both a document slot and storage after index cleanup completes.
Team seats
Section titled “Team seats”Each active member occupies one seat. Admins manage billing; editors configure assistants; viewers have read-only access where analytics permits.
See Roles and permissions and Invite teammates.
Usage dashboard
Section titled “Usage dashboard”The usage page shows:
- Messages consumed vs included this period
- Storage used vs plan cap
- Assistants and KB counts vs limits
- Estimated API cost (informational — actual billing is plan-based via Stripe)
For day-to-day cost visibility, see also Usage and cost estimate.
Over-limit options
Section titled “Over-limit options”- Upgrade — immediate higher quotas. See Upgrade plan.
- Optimize — tighten RAG settings, reduce test traffic, archive unused assistants.
- Enterprise — custom message packs and storage for sustained overage.
