Quickstart: First assistant in 15 minutes
Goal: Create an assistant that answers from your documents. No code required.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Chatevo account (Free plan is fine)
- At least one PDF or document to upload
Step 1 — Create an assistant
Section titled “Step 1 — Create an assistant”-
Log in to the dashboard.

Go to Assistants → Create assistant.

Enter a name (e.g.
Website Help). -
Enter a description for internal use.

Set Master prompt — e.g.:
You are a helpful assistant for our business. Answer only from the knowledge base. If you cannot find an answer, say so and offer to connect the visitor with our team.

Save.
Step 2 — Create a knowledge base
Section titled “Step 2 — Create a knowledge base”- Go to Knowledge bases → Create.
- Name it (e.g.
Company FAQ). - Upload documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT) or use Website crawl to discover and select pages.
- Wait until document status shows Indexed (Active).
Step 3 — Attach knowledge base
Section titled “Step 3 — Attach knowledge base”- Open your assistant → Knowledge section.
- Enable RAG and select your knowledge base.
- Save.
Step 4 — Test
Section titled “Step 4 — Test”- Open Test chat in the assistant editor.
- Ask a question that is answered in your document.
- Confirm the reply cites or reflects your content.
